Overview

Cho Oyu Trekking offers you Mt. Baruntse Expedition. It is a high mountain climbing. Mt. Baruntse lies at the center of three glacier valleys, the Imja, Hunku, Barun and above the east and west Col, in front of Mt. Makalu. The peak standing majestically in the center of some highest peaks of the Himalaya like Makalu, Lhotse and Nupse offers a rewarding climbing experience. This peak is technically not so demanding, as compared to Amadablam and Pumori, though it offers a good experience of snow and ice climb with some ice cliff obstacle. The Baruntse base camp is at an altitude of around 5400 m. Nearby are the pristine lakes below Amphu Labtsa pass. The climbing route follows a long ridge leading to the steep summit.

It is said that it was first ascended by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow from its South - East Ridge on 30 May 1954. Since then many climbers have made successful ascend on this peak. Mt. Baruntse is conserved by the Makalu Barun National Park, therefore there are many rare animals, birds and outstanding natural beauty and various kinds of flora and fauna. Mt. Baruntse is one of the beautiful snow peaks in Nepal. It is also one of the few peaks of this height with a high success rate in making summit.

With its incredible views and location, Baruntse is certain to be a rewarding adventure for any climber wishing to surpass the 7000 meter zone. Those, whose ultimate desire is to pursue 8000 meter peaks, may consider this climb the ideal preparation for 8000 meter goals.
